The civil war of Finland lasted from January 1918 to May in the same year. Red Guards consisting of workers and the landless and receiving help from Russia confronted bourgeois White Guards assisted by jaegers trained in Germany. Finnish civil war claimed circa 37,000 victims, of which 27,000 were Reds and 5,200 were Whites. Most of the Reds and civil victims died by execution and on prison camps.
