Terttu Vartiainen (born 1920) was a member of the Lotta Svärd organization and carried this blanket in the war. She later studied to become Ph.D. in botany. Founded in 1919, the Lotta Svärd organization worked to organize women’s voluntary work during the war. “The Lottas” worked in food and clothing supply, telephone exchange, air control, field and military hospitals, and transporting and caring for the wounded and the casualties. The organization was abolished in 1944.
