The Koijärvi lake near Forssa is known as an important bird area. Demonstrations took place in April 1979 to prevent draining the lake. Environmentalists chained themselves to bulldozers and excavators. The lock was made by Abloy. About one hundred protesters were sentenced to fines, but eventually the lake was made a nature reserve.
