Major left-wing youth festival was organized in 1951 in the DDR, in East Berlin, and one visitor brought home a scarf. The theme of the festival was “For peace and friendship against nuclear weapons”. It was Finland’s turn to host in 1962. The 8th World Festival of Youth and Students was organized in Helsinki.
