In 1965, textile factories Reima, Ikaalisten Silkki (“Ikaalinen Silk”) and Porin Puuvilla (“Pori Cotton”) developed a water-resistant fabric that featured nylon surface and carded cotton on the inside. Enstex clothing allowed children to play outside despite rain and wet snow. By the beginning of the 1970s, factories had used two million metres of the material. Enstex overalls became the kids' uniform of the 1970s.
